Green Cilantro-Lime Chicken Salad

This cilantro lime chicken salad is fresh, vibrant, and ready in just 15 minutes. Grilled chicken breast sits on a bed of crisp lettuce, cucumber, and avocado, all finished with a creamy Greek yogurt cilantro dressing. It is the kind of lunch or light dinner that leaves you satisfied without the afternoon energy slump and every ingredient supports your hormones while it’s at it.

Salads get a bad reputation for being unsatisfying. This one is different. The combination of grilled chicken, healthy fat from avocado, and a protein-rich dressing makes this meal genuinely filling. It also delivers a powerful lineup of hormone-supportive nutrients.

Chicken breast for lean protein and cortisol balance

Chicken breast is one of the leanest, most complete sources of protein available. Adequate protein at every meal is one of the most effective ways to support cortisol balance. When protein intake is low, blood sugar becomes unstable. This triggers a cortisol response. Eating enough protein keeps that cycle from repeating throughout the day.

Avocado for hormone-building fats

Avocado provides monounsaturated fats that are essential for steroid hormone production. It also contains potassium and folate. Folate supports DNA repair and cell health during the luteal phase of the cycle. The creamy texture of avocado also makes the salad more satisfying. It slows digestion and keeps blood sugar steady long after the meal is finished.

Greek yogurt cilantro dressing

Most creamy dressings are built on inflammatory seed oils and refined sugars. This dressing uses Greek yogurt as its base. Greek yogurt adds protein and probiotics to every bite. The probiotics support gut health, which is directly connected to how the body processes and clears estrogen. Lime juice adds vitamin C and brightness. Cumin adds a warm, earthy depth and has natural anti-inflammatory properties.

Cucumber for hydration and liver support

Cucumber is over 95% water. It supports hydration, which is essential for every metabolic process including hormone synthesis. Cucumber also contains small amounts of silica and antioxidants that support liver health. A well-functioning liver is the body’s primary hormone-clearing organ.

Cilantro for detoxification support

Cilantro is more than a garnish. It contains antioxidants and natural compounds that support the body’s ability to bind and remove heavy metals. Heavy metal accumulation has been linked to endocrine disruption. Adding cilantro to meals regularly is a low-effort way to support the body’s natural detoxification pathways.

Meal prep and serving tips

Make the dressing ahead and store it in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to five days. Grill a batch of chicken at the start of the week. Assemble the salad fresh each day to prevent sogginess. Add the dressing just before serving. For a more substantial meal, add a handful of cooked quinoa or basmati rice to the base.

  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 0.3 oz. (8g) fresh cilantro, torn
  • 1 lb. (450g) chicken breast
  • For the cilantro yogurt dressing:
  • 4.2 oz. (120g) Greek yogurt, 2% fat

  • 1 lime, juiced
  • ¼ tsp. cumin

Instructions

  1. Blend all dressing ingredients with an additional 4 tbsp. olive oil and a pinch of salt in a blender or small food processor until smooth and creamy. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Season chicken with salt and black pepper. Heat 1 tbsp. of olive oil in a pan and grill the chicken for 4 minutes per side or until cooked through. Slice into strips.
  3. Combine lettuce, cucumber, avocado, and cilantro in a large salad bowl. Divide between serving bowls and add grilled chicken on top.
  4. Drizzle with the cilantro yogurt dressing, toss, and serve.

Notes

Note: The grilling time for chicken may vary depending on the size of the chicken breast. Aim for an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
